Created after govhack. There are talks of New Zealand splitting off from GovHack. I know there are issues, and the name is one of them. GovDev might be a better name. The fact they explain themselves because of the ‘hack’ in the name is not good.

There were certainly more diversity in the Economics team than management. This is Amy Rice. Economics: modelling team. Face is flat - the lighting was not string enough to show dark/light on the skin.

Another Amy. This time: Amy Wood. Economics: Forecast Team. Decided to do blog text. This would make it easier to paint over if I choose to do grayscale/color layers. The 4 suns in the sky have spikes coming out of them.

Anella Monro. Economics: Research Team. More could of been done in the background. The suns look a bit neglected.

Part two of my Reserve Bank portraits for GovHack. This is the management that I did not finish on the 2nd day of the events. I would like to continue these and draw researchers from RBNZ. This is all the management finished though.

Only two woman are on management. Glasses on this one. The last few portraits wore glasses which was fun to draw. Had issues with the neck but whatever. Beads are a big thing.

More hair than the previous. Caused a cut off of the forehead. Lindsay Jenkin. Head of Human Resources.

Ten suns. I had someone ask me at govhack why there were more than one suns. Fantasy. Mark Perry. His tie had a circle pattern so it matches the suns.

Mike Hannah did not shave this day. Beards are fun to draw though, this one isn’t long though. Head of Communication, Board Secretary.

Mike Wolyncewicz. Nothing on the background. This was the last portrait I drew at govhack so was very tired. He has a great smile. It was a challenge to draw!

Patrick Hoerler. Head of Risk Assessment and Assurance (RAA). Almost no hair so that made it each. Created water and hills but no suns.

I am doing GovHack this weekend. In previous years I worked with Ministry of Education jobs data, and the following general govt jobs. This year I decided to focus on the Reserve Bank of New Zealand website. A redesign for fun.

I was going to do the Machine Learning Nanodegree from Udacity but I decided to switch to the Data Analyst. It’s more me. ked at titanic survival data and have written a python script to analyse the data.

Machine Learning. Basics and concepts. Trees, linear regression etc.

Attended Life Drawing Hamilton. The model was Marie. It was my first time drawing her. I have not attending life drawing much since my larger screen broke. It’s much harder with the smaller screen. With the next life drawing I attend I will either use my dell laptop running linux mint or get a new screen for the pi.

Attended AWS summit Auckland 2017. It was the first time I had attended a AWS conference. It was very heavy vendor based conference - reminded me of HackAkl.

I arrived late and missed the keynote. I also didn’t attend the final session. It was great networking - I got to catch up with a few old faces and meet new ones.

The 2nd talk I attended. This was a level 100 : driving Business Outcomes with a Modern Data Architecture. I may of been better to attend the AI or Security talk that was on at the current time. It was still enjoyable.

2nd part of the data talk

The final talk I attended of the day. This was Advanced Continuous Delivery on AWS. Wordpress was used as an example.

IBM did a talk called Developing Your IoT Solutions. It was the only hardware focused talk I attended. One product mentioned was the Intel Commute stick. This is similar to a Raspberry Pi.

I have discovered the web comic Phillfromgchq. The comic is licensed under CCBY. It gives me inspiration to my own artwork in the same way Pepper&Carrot, jensshed etc do.
